Mentors & Mentoring

The PSYKID’s Intuitive UnWorkBook

Nancy: You know the African proverb:

It takes a whole village to raise a child?

I have been asked many times what I’ve done (as a parent)  to get my daughter, L.E.M. to ‘here’.   I’ve got to say that I definitely have not done it alone!

The mentor system is wonderful for absolutely every person – and has been essential for guiding a highly psychic child like L.E.M..  My personal feeling is that the consciousness on this planet is rising so dramatically from the past that we have a whole generation or two of parents who are in the position of raising children who are more spiritually aware than ourselves.  I can’t imagine that this is the norm in most worlds.

In any case, to meet that challenge I have been reminded of the African proverb and have taken it to heart.  L.E.M.’s godmother has been wonderful support and deeply knowledgeable help in many times; another friend who experienced many of these extended abilities as a child herself has been a ‘ready reference guide’; and former professors, have been supportive too.

I have learned to ask, not hide. To be an advocate; To follow where Spirit leads and puts people in my footpath.
….. and to READ!  Many parents write and tell me that they don’t know anyone else in their community who they can share these things with.  It seems  really synchronistic that the internet came into its own about the same time as the profoundly aware kids! smile. Today’s mentors might come in virtual form – often as authors of all the wonderful books available.

Becoming your own mentor
(and your child’s mentor)

We chose homeschooling for middle school and most of high school – which many parents now choose for a variety of reasons – – and it seems to suit the psychic child’s specialized education needs perfectly.
The Home education movement is a movement that is really giving us back our own knowledge – a sort of “permission” to know what we know, be our own expert – or to go become our own expert.

BUT, it’s not the only way, and not the best way for all children.  Be prepared to educate your own school leaders about the need for a more spiritually-based education, one that is sensitive to sensitivities. Ask that the FULL RANGE of sensory perceptions be taught wherever possible.

This website represents some of our favorite ways that we have found to fully explore the spiritual world of children  – –
If any of you have suggestions to share we would appreciate hearing your thoughts and we’ll add them to our suggestion page. Our E-mail is below  – THANKS

[ MENTORING & PSI-Education–  Some thoughts from Nancy
The consciousness community movement has been well and thriving for years now.  It is designed for adults, however. So we need each of us to turn that knowledge into small increments to be shared with our multidimensional children as it is needed for each individual.

The three R’s can still be met at either school or at home, yet HISTORY can be all the more dramatic when a kid remembers living in Egypt; or it becomes more alive when he/she re-discovers another lifetime and the name “Bath” comes up – ‘what on earth is that, Mom?’ and I can bring out the Atlas and find Bath, England for her.
EARTH SCIENCES take on a whole new light when your kid has spoken to a person from the interior of Pluto.
….and what do you find to read to him/her when your multidimensional child talks about other realities as if that’s the street your neighbor lives on ???
Which physics book is going to even approach a helpful understanding of their inherent knowing?

There have been many psychics, channelers, spiritualists etc., in the past, (though their abilities had usually been developed as adults, or were not understood, and  ridiculed into the ground.)  There has been many years of awakening in both the ‘alternative’ community and in our professions slowly, even with some with a degree of scientific rigor.
To me as a parent, what is NEW, is that these abilities are coming in small, small packages now!!   These kids aren’t here to play ‘hurry-up-and-wait’ games
~ ~ wait to get a relevant education – until they are 18, and out of school and can get access to philosophical concepts never seen inside a public school!

So, here we are needing to develop a curriculum for an inquiring spirit/heart/mind, (but not the patience level) of materials that many of us didn’t find to  read for ourselves until we were much older.
Even the psychic and intuitive teens now still don’t want to have to wade through information written even only 10 or so years ago designed for a culture that has been in skeptical mode for 3000 years. What is intuitively so obvious to them… they say to us,
‘Why are they still debating that, Mom? They need to get over it, already!’
. . . Providing our kids with an appropriate relevant educationcurrently requires us to synthesize what is available from the best and most advanced thinkers of the last 30 years and bring it into age-appropriate terminology. Often I have discovered that that may be found in small doses –  using just one chapter out of a Buckminster Fuller book, for instance.
Toward that end, we have started a list of books and videos in our Resources Section that address different aspects of what it is to live a holistic, multidimensional life.
